I bought this because I thought it would be something worth owning considering I own a PS3. My PS3 has always worked well but the moment I used this cleaner my ps3 started having issues reading disc or loading a disc and then locking up. I sent the PS3 out to Sony and they replaced the Bluray drive. Six months go by and I figured that the first time using the cleaner must have been a fluke and not the fault of the Maxell Bluray cleaner. To top it off my PS3 has been working flawlessly since getting it back. So I used the cleaner again and I immediately started having issues with my drive reading, seeing and or loading Bluray disc’s. Now my PS3 is out of warranty so I bought a new PS3 250GB slim model and I’ll order a replacement Bluray lens for my old PS3 and fix it myself.
I think its a bit odd that both times I used this cleaner on a ps3 that was working fine they (ps3’s) immediately exibited issues. This cleaner will not touch either of my PS3’s going forward. In fact the only thing it will touch is the bottom of my trash can.

The product came in on time as promised. I put the disc in and had it clean the lens 7 times before i ruled it out as useless. It just spins at one speed, the “wind funnel” technology it claims to use is just spreading the dust and not actually cleaning the lens.
If you are having trouble getting your blu ray discs to read then you will have to either A. Send it to Sony, B. Find a servicing area that fixes ps3’s and consoles, or C. Open it up yourself (what i did). I opened it up myself using a very good tutorial on youtube. The whole thing took me about an hour. You save yourself 150, and by not buying this you will save yourself a good 17 bucks on the product and shipping. If you are having a blu ray read problem this is not the product for you.

So here’s the premise for the Maxell Blu-Ray Cleaner: two small holes through the disc are supposed to create a cyclone inside my player to clean the lens… here’s the problem with this:
1) the 2 holes approximately 1/16″ are drilled straight through the disc about 3/4 of an inch from the outside of the disc. The Blu-Ray player reads from the inside out so the laser lens is not even close to the “holes”
2) If this does indeed create a strong gust of wind inside the player, isn’t it just going to stir up more dust that is already inside my machine that will later settle on my lens?
I personally think taking a deep breath and blowing into the open door of my player will yield better results. Needless to say, the results were virtually non-existent
I promptly returned this and got another Blu-Ray Lens cleaner with brushes that is approved for Blu-Ray devices and was very happy with my purchase.

The product states that it works with the XBOX 360. However, when I attempted to place the disk in my XBOX 360 to clean the drive, it was unable to recognize or use the disk. I tried it on my blu ray players and it worked just fine in 2 different models. However, I feel this was a waste of money since it did not work for my XBOX 360. This was the whole reason I made the purchase.
