A very nice Blu Ray player…great price and very good quality…the opening of the drawer is a bit slow, but otherwise this machine performs well with a great picture..Would be happy to buy another for the bedroom!!

I’ve had this Blu-Ray player for a few months now, and have had no problems. Picture is great, menus are logical, start-up is reasonable.
My only complaint is that the power button lights up when the power is OFF. Who thought that was a good idea….?

I received mine as a gift for Christmas.
If you are hesitating, I would recommend that you go ahead and get this. The experience is better than the movie theater for me, because in the theater I am somewhat bothered by the flicker of the film. I do not have this problem with Blu-ray. I am watching the picture on a 42″ LCD display. The result is gorgeous. I used the component RCA connector outputs. I have an HDMI cable, but when I saw the results with the component outputs, I did not bother to hook up the HDMI.
I watched the movie Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. It has a preview of the Wizard of Oz. I must say that this preview was not nearly as impressive. Clearly movie making technology has advanced in 80 years, and remastering that old Wizard of Oz in Blu-ray just can not bring it up to the best that Blu-ray has to offer.
I like also being able to play DivX DVDs/CDs, because I have a collection of them. Of course, the picture quality does not compare with Blu-Ray discs, but it is quite acceptable, especially if you don’t have your nose right to the screen.
I don’t have another Blu-ray player to compare to, but compared to DVD players, this one is a bit slow to load a disc or to skip to a new location. It seems to need to read in a lot of data before getting started. I would guess that the buffer for Blu-ray is much bigger than that needed for regular DVDs.
I have not tried the internet connection, so I can not comment on that.

I just bought this player from target. it was easy to set up as mot of these thing are, but as soon as i turned it on the home page was glitchy. it kept going in and out and shaking on the screen. i know its not my hdmi cable because its worked great for a long time. i did venture to put in a movie, transformers, and the shaking and glitching went away, but im just going to return it. im not going to chance it. sorry Phillips.

Bought this player to replace my awesome Philips DVD player w/ divx. I was disappointed when I realized that YOU CANNOT PLAY DIVX MEDIA FROM THE SD CARD! Just pictures (.jpg) and MP3s.
Other than that, its an easy to use player with BD live capability. Hopefully philips can release a firmware version that allows divx playback on from the SD card. This is curious since their previous players allowed Divx playback from the USB port. I wonder whats the reason behind this? Anyway, its going back to Newegg.
