Customer Reviews

Cooling Fan
I have had this home cinema over 1 year now and have been very pleased with it, the only thing that stops me giving it a 5 star is the cooling fan on the back iam surprised no one else has picked up on this in their reviews or mine is faulty, anyway the cooling fan i find is very noisy and irritating.

ARGHHHH - Too Many issues!
Despite the hype (in Samsung's printed and online materials), this system DOES NOT support YouTube or Blockbuster On Demand. Samsung flat out lied about this, and their tech support claims a firmware upgrade will address this, but the system's already been discontinued. However, Netflix and Pandora work quite well. Another issue is that using the optical connection from my Time Warner cable box has some decoding issues, so that when you pause the DVR, the audio defaults to a presumably 5.1 audio setting - you can't hear the dialogue, but you can hear the music and FX. A button push (V-Sound or DSP) on the remote cures this, but it's a hassle doing it every time you want to get up to grab a snack (which in my case is frequently). Sound quality at low volume lacks depth and shape, but higher volumes work better. I use it to listen to my iPod, but playlists are a must because the navigation is slow. Even with Anynet+ getting everything to work together seamlessly is cumbersome and lame. Do not buy this system - I am replacing mine!

Avoid
This unit was purchased new and did not work out of the box. I sent it back to Samsung and got it back about 3 weeks later. 6 months went by and it started having trouble loading and reading cd/dvd and bluray discs. It also has sound interruptions while watching hd tv. I sent it back again and within a week of getting it back from Samsung, the same problems exist. Besides the reliability issues, the sound is just ok and it is not a very user friendly unit. I will never buy Samsung again as I have also had a vcr and television of theirs break within the first year of buying them. I don't know why I thought this time would be different.

When Pigs Fly
I purchased this unit, HT-BD7200 in July '09, It had some issues right away. The picture froze, and when I tried to run my TV sound through it, the voice portion of the brodcast disappeared.I figured it was the way I hooked it up. When I had tried every way I could figure (I've had much more complex systems in the past, and have allways been able to hook them up correctly.) I called Samsung for tech support. When I told him the problem, he told me to make sure my center speaker was connected correctly. I should have known right then. This is a 2.1 system with NO center speaker. He told me to hook it up using the optical audio, and it seemed to work, for about a week. I called again and got it fixed, for about a week. This time I called and asked if they could send out a service rep to see what was going on with it. NO. I must send
it out to be repaired, came back, same thing, called again and was told that it was the likely disc I was using and to send it in again.(I do have some well used discs) When I got it back, I opened a BRAND NEW DISNEY Blu ray, put it in with the same results. Called Samsung and asked for a refund. I was told I would need to send it in a third time' So reluctantly, I sent it in again on Nov 23. A week and a half went by so I called the Repair company. They said that they couldn't fix it and had requested that Samsung send a replacement. I called Samsung and told them that I Don't trust this Model, and would NOT accept a replacement and wanted a refund. I was told that I would have to send a copy of the reciept. Did that. Nothing. Called 3 more times and was told by each person in the case management dept. that they would take care of it and call me back the same day. Kym J, Mikika, and Craig W. all LIED to me. Craig even said "on his word as a gentelman". Today is Dec 23 2010. I have basicly been without a DVD since July. If You think I will ever buy anything from Samsung again, I'll sell you some flight insurance for your pigs.

Doesn't sound like 5.1 even a little.
Don't get me wrong the sound is good, but it's not surround sound. I've had this system for several months now, I've watched a lot of movies, and maybe it's me, but in reading the product description from the manufacturer, this system, using 2.1 channel, is supposed to simulate 5.1 surround sound. I think it should do that better then it does, especially for the price of the system. If you want surround sound, this ain't it. If you want easier setup and a system that sounds good loud, this might work for you. I don't recommend it.
