Overall this is a great product, no problems at all so far. The picture and quality is fantastic. My biggest complaint is that is doesn’t allow streaming of live video and having a Netflix account I was really looking forward to it, the other, cheaper models have that function so I can’t figure out why Sony excluded it from this “higher” end model. I would have probably reconsidered this purchase if I would have realized it.

I purchased the BDP-S560, set it up (including the wireless feature) and watched a bit of a DVD. It seemed pretty good, good picture, good sound, but I really can’t say anything about its BluRay support, as I didn’t have a BluRay disk handy. After two hours, the player wanted to update its firmware (it found a new version through the wireless interface) so I let it do that. The device then locked up with a “SYS ERR”. I believe that the firmware update failed, corrupting the flash memory holding the firmware.
I called Sony Support, which put a repair order in for me, and promised to send me a service request form. This was two days ago. Four phone calls later (spending two hours of my life on the phone), my case is lost in their system (they initially had a typo in my email address and are now unable to fix it) and I have a useless player, no way to return it, and no record of my support case.
If this case is at all typical, buying a Sony product is not something I would recommend to anyone at this point.

This being the first Blu-ray player I have owned,I can truly say that the number one impressive feature was the sound quality. While the picture is a bit better than
my regular Panasonic, the sound quality was very superior to the Panasonic’s. It came in a timely manner and was brand new out of the box. My only concern at first was that it was not shipped inside a box. They slapped a label on the original box and sent it on it’s merry way. But, it did arrive in good shape and played with no problems. The wireless is a bit limited as it only has BD-Live but it was easy to set up. This is a good player that had a good price.

We purchased the top end of the consumer models (this BDP-S560) from SONY BUT we learned afterward that a less expensive model, the SONY BDP-S460 actually has more features for lower price. The quality of the BDP-S560 is excellent and the system works well with our SONY Bravia LCD HDTV and our SONY Theatre System.
Easy to set up, easy to upgrade the BIOS using wireless Internet. But as we see more often with SONY than ever before, some deceit: the SONY BDP-S560 has less features and costs more than the SONY BDP-S460. This deception appears to be more common than one would have hoped. In fact, the SONY BDP-S560 is basically the BDP-S360 with wireless Internet that does nothing other than update the BIOS. SONY should pay the consumer to update the BIOS not the other way around.
It seems to me that SONY and TOYOTA are turning in the same direction: dishonesty and lower quality than ever imagined possible. It is a shame.

I purchased this player as an upgrade to the 350. I have a PS3 the first gen 60gb model and when the BD lens went out I decided to get a standalone player. While the 350 was good, it was annoying having to plug an ethernet cable to update the player or use BD live for extra content. I decided to get this model as it has wifi built-in which was alleviate any issues I had with the 350. Sound and video are excellent I have the Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR6 and use an Onkyo TX-SR607 7.1 receiver and both deliver on what they are suppose to which is the best pq and sq available today. Set-up was easy as I only had to put in my password to my wifi network. The drawbacks to this player are the lack of streaming for Netflix, etc and of course the remote which removes the eject button. The speed is quick and if you leave it on standby mode it’s even faster(but consumes power). If you are like me and have other devices that can stream netflix (ps3, xbox 360) and want wifi built in without having to get a PS3 you cannot go wrong with this player. Built in True HD and DTS HD MA is great but for me the more important aspect is bitstreaming something my PS3 cannot do(which bypasses the players decoders and let’s the receiver do the decoding). I like the look of the 350 better but this one is starting to grow on me.
